Who We Are

EdTrust-New York is a statewide education policy and advocacy organization focused first and foremost on doing right by New York’s children. Although many organizations speak up for the adults employed by schools and colleges, we advocate for students, especially those whose needs and potential are often overlooked.

Our mission is to dismantle systemic barriers in New York’s education system by conducting rigorous research, amplifying student and family voices, and advancing policy solutions that address the root causes of inequity. Through advocacy, partnerships, and data-driven tools, we work to ensure that students of color and those from low-income backgrounds have equitable access to high-quality education from early childhood through higher education and beyond.

We envision a future where student outcomes are recognized as the responsibility and reflection of the system, rather than a reflection of individual students and families. A future where families and children are liberated from the oppressive systems from early childhood through postsecondary education in New York State. In this future, Black, Latinx, Native American, and Asian American and Pacific Islander students and families and those from low-income backgrounds thrive in New York’s economy and society.
